HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

Writer's picture: Olivia CallaghanOlivia Callaghan

As Black Friday sales and discounts clog our inbox in anticipation of Friday, I think that it is extra important that we support small, independent businesses when we do our holiday shopping this year. Instead of ordering something on Amazon, buy from your friends, local stores and small brands that you’ve found or follow on social media.

I have put together this Holiday Gift Guide in an attempt to inspire your purchases and introduce you to some of my favourite brands which I hope you will love as much as I do. Some are Wellness focused products, some for men, and some just great for anyone.

Happy browsing! (images & titles linked to each website)

These gorgeous hand-illustrated cards, place names and stationary have a very special place in my heart. Clementina is incredibly talented and apart from the products on her website, she also designs bespoke event invitations, menus, schedules, maps and more. Clementina's love for animals comes through in much of her work and the intricate characters, mementos and figures she paints, come to life on the pages. Use code 'OliSketchbook' for 10% off!

Tatiana's work is fun, relevant and up-lifting. Both her prints and her stationary make a room buzzy and fun, with great captions and sayings strewn alongside doodles, colour and print. There has been a mention of pottery coming soon so stay tuned and don’t miss out. She also did a collab with Victoria Beckham and you can find her drawings printed across clothing in the Dover Street Store.

His and Hers velvet jackets in Mansour or Mandarin designs. The collection is growing for next summer with linen Nehru jackets and shirts for men which are simply divine. The co-ords are made with coconut shell buttons and everything is designed by my little brother and sister… not biased I swear.

Uplifting affirmation words to wear on your wrist, surrounded by semiprecious stones and coloured beads. Design your own or choose from her fabulous collection of crystal bracelets to wear everywhere, always.

My favourite candle brand with the most amazing Christmas Tree smell I’ve ever experienced. They look sleek, smell delicious and are Skandi…whats not to love.

If you’ve jumped on the ‘tablescape' bandwagon you’ll know this brand already. Alice is the epitome of British fairytale living, with a picture perfect house and table accessories to die for. She has just launched her Christmas collection but every collection is gorgeous for any time of year.

Find out your Human Design and dive into the world of getting to know your true self. The Jenna Zoe website will figure out your profile as well as provide access to courses so that you can get down and dirty diving deep into your design & personality. Gift cards available.

8. LARQ

This one stop shop hybrid between a water bottle and a filter is definitely on my wish-list this Christmas. Rather than waiting for your Brita to finish filtering before filling up your Swell, take the plunge and fill up anywhere, anytime… it’s worth the investment.

The most gorgeous hand woven place mats, bags and clutches made by indigenous communities and tribes. By supporting this brand, you also support the artisans in remote villages across the Colombian countryside.

This brand was born when Soraya Bakhtiar combined her love for astrology and the spiritual world with a trip to Grasse, France (the perfume capital of the world). Three signature scents that you can layer to create something very personal. Also, take the quiz on her website to figure out which is most suited for you - it's fun! Everything about these bottles, and the packaging is very, very cool.

I discovered this cosmetic brand at the new Pantechnicon concept store in London earlier this year, and fell in Love with the hand-cream instantly. It cured my dry, chapped hands post sanitiser and feels like cashmere while you rub it in. The smell is delicious and once I can afford it, I would like to try the face cream and the body oil, they look scrumptious.

The perfect gift for men who have everything. Vibrant, excitingly packaged soaps that smell elegant and look luxx. This Portuguese brand has encapsulated the design of colourful tiles so known throughout the country into their branding, and I love it.

Lockdown has taught me that a ‘sacred space’ in your home is important. Make it cosy, inviting and magical to bring some peace and calm into your life. These Himalayan Salt lamps create just that vibe, and also detoxify the air with their natural qualities. Beware - you’ll never want to turn it off.

Hand made in Kent, this pottery is pretty, cool and elegant all at once. It reminds me of the Japanese styles I see in trendy concept shops or department stores in London and are so ‘in’ right now. However, this half the price and made in England...win win.

Sax Doodle’s location prints have a geometric, 60’s style in their design. Choose from the hot-spots already drawn up, or commission one of your favourite place or home. They look great framed and come in 3 different sizes which is highly convenient.

Who doesn’t want a pair of Venetian slippers!? Vibi has got you covered for winter, summer, night and day. They even launched a sport version this year which makes for long days of sight-seeing (maybe in 2021?) I can’t choose which ones are my favourite but I have some red and white striped ones which come out every summer and never fail to complete an outfit. The red or green velvet are particularly Christmassy…

Sir Plus started by using material cut-offs to make gorgeous sleeveless waistcoats for men. Since then they have expanded and added new products to their collection. Fit and Design is great, and I think every brother, boyfriend or dad need one in their wardrobe. Superb quality and Made in England, they also plant a tree for every order made!

We may not be able to travel right now, but what better way to pine over future bucket-list locations than a collection of Suitcase Magazine volumes… Plan your next trip with the latest edition and then display them on your coffee table. Great content and any travellers 'must have'.

With Christmas gift-boxes for the non-alcoholic cocktail lover, these are a great way to make someone feel like they are drinking something special this holiday period. Get their recipe book, utensils and drinks for the ultimate spoil.

20. Vouchers

Vouchers are always well received, and now more than ever we can help small businesses by buying vouchers to use when things begin to open up again. Whether it be a card with 10 takeout coffees, a manicure, restaurant voucher, Personal training session or health coaching plan this type of gift can be sent from afar and will be very much appreciated.

I trust that I have managed to introduce you to some new gift ideas for the upcoming holidays and would love to hear back if you do love anything you buy.

With love,

Oliva x
